ARMY DAYS II

(continued)

most of the guys gritted their teeth and were drafted but i must give honorable mention to successful draft dodgers.

morty went to grad school and then broke his leg when he jumped over a tennis net just before his physical.

phil had tunnel vision preventing him to do something or other that the armed services needed.  he looked ok to me.  he never missed spotting a cute young woman.

artie had something, maybe an overbite, whatever.

walter walked into his physical with a (surprise, surprise) leg brace and a doctor's note and probably one from his mother. i had to listen to how they twisted his leg but they capitulated and rejected him. he wore out and outlasted the army doctors.  he went on later to be a psychologist and ruin many people's lives.

so sorry i can't remember the ones who were drafted and killed in action.

(to be continued)
