ARMY DAYS I

i being an idiot thought that being drafted was inevitable and volunteered early thinking i was too smart to have any problems.  fortunately, i am blessed with an inordinate amount of dumb luck.  the korean war ended while i was midway into basic training.

amazingly the smartest guys i knew were drafted.  among them are george, harold, and bernie.

the ones i forget are those that were killed in action.

years later i worked with defense dept. chickenhawk draft dodgers.  for some strange unknown reason some of the goofballs at the defense dept. facility were exempted from the draft.  many of them would have served a much higher purpose if they were just gun fodder.
