179TH AND VYSE, BRONX, NY (PART LX): LIFE BEFORE DEATH IN (ugh) NEW JERSEY

(continued)

COLLEGE APOLOGIA RECAP

being unskilled, untalented, and not understanding business, it was necessary to delay my debut in the world by attending college.  i'm sure this was true of most the people at my defense installation especially the management.

it seemed that selling something for a higher price than you obtained it for was at the very least unethical.  and seemed rather stupid., "college here i come."

surrounded by relatives who could talk the talk but were were of absolutely no help.  from my bs phd uncle giving me a wealth of bad advice to my mom who was not on drugs but might as well have been as she floated through her fantasy life.  the only advice i got from my dad working about 80 hours a week was, "stay out of the restaurant business.".

fortunately in those days the city college system was almost free because i cannot imagine my parents parting with the money necessary for nyu or another nyc school.
