for the second year in a row i am trying to grow begonias from seed. why am i doing this? because i enjoy pain, suffering, and failure. there's no other explanation.
now going on two weeks since sowing, i stare blankly each morning at a smudge on a damp piece of tissue paper enclosed in a clear plastic topped case that used to contain 3.5 inch floppy disks (before they took them away from me). a new fangled flourescent bulb shines down into it 14 hours a day. will i ever see signs of life? unlikely.
an internet site recommended this type of germination. last year i got some germination the regular (missionary?) way and then agonizing death of the seedlings. so sad. a smarter person than i could just buy the couple of plants i want in season.
sheer stubborness on my part requires me to continue. the same stubborness that kept me living and working with fools in the toxic waste dump called new jersey for 40 years like the biblical wandering an ancient israelite.
