179TH AND VYSE, BRONX, NY (PART XXX): LIFE BEFORE DEATH IN (ugh) NEW JERSEY

mental debris-

one day after returning from clinton high school on the C trolley, i was engaged in conversation on vyse avenue by mrs. klover.  our families had been acquainted since rogers place since i was six.  i must have looked needy or she was lonely as she invited me up for an afternoon snack.. i declined and went home.  i'm sure my mom was off doing something important at bloomingdales or something.

mr. klover died around 1941.  i recall a fleeting moment of emotion seeing mike klover at ps 6 after i learned of his father's death.  my mom was surprised when she went to the funeral services and saw that mrs. klover was sitting in the back while a different mrs. klover was sitting up front.  a mystery.
