179TH AND VYSE, BRONX, NY (PART XXVII): LIFE BEFORE DEATH IN (ugh) NEW JERSEY

(continued)

CAN YOU SMELL THIS ,, MMMM
mmmm ....   pizza.  across the street from the ritz theater were a couple of places of interest.  a bar that i was only in once with who, i do not recall.  the important thing is that i had the greatest, bestest pizza ever made.  a magnificent crust (magnificently textured and baked), pungent, savory cheeses, tomatoes, oil and spices - mmmm ... pizza - AARRRGhhhhhh ... i can't take it.  i must have this removed from my memory.

other recommended pizza places circa 1945 - 1955 were along 187th street and triplets on morris park avenue.  a couple of references to triplets on the internet ---  two of them are,

"We have a pizza place across from my job that reminds me of old school Morris Park pizza like Liberty's and Triplets."

"Triplets pizza was great in its day!!!"

only a memory, now.  i must go on.............  sob.

the other place of interest across from the ritz was a barbershop whose only redeeming feature for a tween was a collection of esquire magazines with appropriate pictures and cartoons.  who cared how my hair looked?
