wondrin' about the purpose of health care for the  ... ummm .. elderly like ... ummm ... myself.  i'm starting to think its more about extracting huge profits by extending life far beyond any value to me or you.  the excuse is that life is sacred while they string you up, cut you into pieces, drain you out, change your oil, and provide bizarre devices at outrageous prices.

its a huge conspiracy comprised of the entire so-called medical community - very profitable.

do you have the right to die?   how?  when?  i dunno.

aunt jennie's monument will be formally dedicated and anointed this weekend.

i've always thought of these events as being the last party celebrating a person's earthly essence.

some highlights of the group dynamics as i recall of the last such event i attended:

a. an argument about FOX news.

b. sailing on the chesapeake bay.

c. business problems

d. a bored very young lady flirting with the men.

i don't think many of them cared as to who or what the event was about.

i hope your life will generate more interest.  good luck!

somehow republican thought is that people in business who are inefficient,or incompetent or who (really) do not qualify for a job are entitled to cheap labor or worse yet slave labor to continue in their inept ways.  on the other hand an essential government supported activity such as education, postal service, police protection, etc. are expendable.

IRENE: THE PUSSYCAT HURRICANE-- LET'S REVISIT, "THE STORM OF THE CENTURY", NOVEMBER 25, 1950.

"The so-called "storm of the century" hits the eastern part of the United States, killing hundreds and causing millions of dollars in damages, on this day in 1950. Also known as the "Appalachian Storm," it dumped record amounts of snow in parts of the Appalachian Mountains. ...."

no big deal - i was outside walking from building alcove to building alcove on bryant avenue going toward tremont avenue when the storm of the century was occurring.

my wife says she walked struggling against the elements going to chale's drugstore during the storm as she needed information for a college paper.
.
we weren't even on cnn's payroll.

"Forming over North Carolina just before Thanksgiving, the storm quickly moved north, striking western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio and West Virginia. These areas were blanketed with several feet of snow for several days and travel was impossible for nearly a week in some places.

An accompanying windstorm covered a far greater area. New York City recorded a 94 mile-per-hour wind gust ........."

the docs are only as smart as the last drug company's sales representative they talked to.  subjecting us to every newly released concept and drug, thinking they are geniuses.  its sorta a trickle down thing.  my doctor is a great advocate of leeches and medieval torture.  his attitude is, "don't ask questions. just do it, stupid".  "duh, sure".

ARMY DAYS XXVI

mustering out pay, form dd 214 - honorable discharge, final orders, and stuffed duffel bag in hand i headed for the denver railroad station.  a day and a half later on a december morning my train approached new york city from (ugh) new jersey.  i teared up at the sight of my hometown's magnificent skyline as the sky started to lighten.  there was no welcoming party or band to greet the conquering hero.  it was great to be home.

not a creature was stirring in the early morning when i got off the elevated train and descended on to boston road and headed to my mom's apartment on 179th street.  it was like being in a movie, attired in full dress uniform carrying my duffel bag up the street.  army days were over.

no time to fool around now.  had to get a job.  there was no sitting around or backpacking through europe searching for the real me.  these were the days when no matter in which direction you went it was uphill and the wind blew in your face and of course as usual if life itself tried to get easier, replacements would be sent in from the bench to tackle you.

HEALTH CARE

all he wanted to do was cut me up, put me in pickling solution and freshen up the pickling solution three times a week, for the better part of my old man's day, for the rest of my life, and i walked out on him saying, "i'd rarther be dead".

he is very smart, went to medical school for many years, sat through hundreds of class hours and labs, paid huge sums to the academic community, his parents worked hard and are very proud of him.  and i walked out on him saying, "i'd rather be dead'.

of course he's angry.  i didn't take his prescription.  "i'd rather be dead".

i've led as full a life as i was capable of.  i have enough years to qualify without embarrassment or pity for the graveyard.  "i'd rather be dead".

becoming dead is not that easy, "i'd rather be dead?".  i may change my mind.

ARMY DAYS XXV

back in harness in denver and bored out of my mind.  the pinball machines at the base drained my meager army pay.  my group was getting ready to be sent to our permanent assignments.  at this time our services were needed in japan and korea where our casualties from the harry-truman-korean-bastard war were.  most of the group was going to japan.

meanwhile my mom was harassing my draft board or someone, whatever, that she needed me at home.  she could really get on your case when motivated - a pitbull mentality.  within the next four weeks i was freed from the service.  i was not against being discharged.  on the downside, i would never find out whether what they say about japanese ladies is true.

doctor's appointment today.  must minimize any inflammatory food, watch my Ph level, and stuff.

unfortunately for the medical community my last data point took an unexpected uptick which ruins what previously was a text book case.  sorry, i didn't mean for you to think, stand back.  take your knives, medieval torture devices, and get the hell out of here.  i'm not ready yet.

puposa de queso

a funny thing happened on the tea party's way back to the middle ages. the united states has become an economic risk.

SUPER DELUXE HEART ATTACK
INDUCING PUPOSA DE QUESO
of course the middle ages were really great because there were no taxes to the government because there was no government. there was full employment. if you wanted to work for the feudal lord you got a job. if you didn't want to work, you could starve to death.  if you had unpaid debts, you would be thrown in prison and if no one cared you would die. a system that was self-curing. there was no medi-plan because the black death was incurable and quick.

things were really great.

cherries

since the robber barons are all dead the government is the only job creator.  the two bit, plutocrat businessmen obviously destroy jobs.  the more they destroy the more money they make.  i would do the same thing if i were in their shoes.  sooooo, we are left with the government which seemingly is totally useless at this time.

ARMY DAYS XXIV

i had no thought as to how i was to return to denver.  i could go back the way i came via pickup military flights or pay my own way using public transport.  oddly, i was put in touch with, stanley, who lived around the corner on vyse avenue.  rich, stanley, i barely knew him.  his father too had recently died.  home on leave from lackland airforce base in san antonio, we hooked up to share driving his car west as far as st. louis where he let me out, hung a left, and headed to his base.

although little is written about the harry-truman-korean-bastard war period my neighborhood was emptied out by the armed forces.  some guys actually got married and impregnated their wives to get out of the draft.  this was not a good idea as far as i was concerned.

in st. louis near the RR station i stopped overnight at a flea-bag hotel and continued my journey to denver the next day by train.
