on my way to becoming an efficient killing machine i learned how to kill in close combat with an m16 (or was that the m1) rifle, a magnificent weapon. with a bayonet, you can stab your opponent straight away. if he's still breathing or you miss you can hit him with the heavy butt end by swinging it up. as he lies on the ground writhing in pain just shoot him a couple of times in the chest. actually i think the army recommends bayoneting him or her a few more times. i don't want to get that close.
bad breath and yelling some sort of rebel scream in this situation is also handy.
while watching your enemy's blood and guts mix into the disgusting mud relax with one of those cigarettes that came in your rations.
another basic training lesson learned well.
