LATEST GOOGLE MAP (70 YEARS YOO LATE)
two streets to the south of my apt. bldg. was (and is) tremont avenue.

along this street there was (starting at boston road going west toward southern blvd.)  the rko chester, "el" station, pizza place, (collector's) stamp store, public school 6,  a supermarket, the busybee eatery, a drugstore, hardware store, vogue movie house, a vegetarian eatery.

on the other side of southern blvd. was a chinese restaurant, a variety of men and women's clothing stores, dollinger's toy store, kresge's, woolworth's, loew's fairmont, dover movie house, my draftboard, and some bronx county administration buildings.

ALL WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE!!!!!!  NOT LIKE IN (UGH) NEW JERSEY.
