once upon a time over 61 years ago i was dating a young woman. lets call her betty co-ed. now betty co-ed had a friend who married a cinder block manufscturer and distributor and had to live in a big house in a great neighborhood with this person. betty co-ed thought this was an awful settling her friend made. she was really happy that she was dating me.
i could see her point. actually my position was a little different. i had no skills. i had no money. i did hold a part time job while an undergaraduate paying one dollar an hour. i could look forward to being drafted to be sent to the meat grinder in korea. i slept on a day bed in my parents living room and ate their food. on the upside i was young and good looking. who could ask for anything more.
now lets enter my time machine to 2014.........................
WOW, HOW GREAT IT WOULD BE TO MANUFACTURE CINDERBLOCK AND DISTRIBUTE IT. THIS GUY WOULD BE THE RICHEST AND MOST REVERED PERSON IN MY NEW JERSEY TOWN. AFTER ALL THE RICHEST MAN IN TOWN NOW MOWS LAWNS AND SELLS LAWN MOWERS, THE PREVIOUS RICHESTMAN IN TOWN HAD AN AUTOMATED FACTORY WHICH PLACED SCREWS IN PLASTIC PACKAGES. I WOULD BE SO PROUD TO BE IN THE CINDERBLOCK BUSINESS.
NOW I'M SURE BETTY CO-ED WHEREEVER SHE IS IF SHE EVER THINKS OF THIS CONVERSATION WOULD NOW SAY, "HOW FOOLISH".
