supreme court finds that the constitution itself is unconstitutional.  throws it out.  for the time being the original bible is the law of the land since we have to interpret current legal problems in light of the true fundamental law brought to us by cavemen.  our shallow constitution is sadly wanting.  certainly tom jefferson, et al have used "copy and paste" to their advantage.  the only problem with the new system is that the members of the supreme court are still learning aramaic, hebrew, and greek in order to understand the text but the koch brothers in all their benevolence and generosity are supporting the effort.  for the time being the rupert murdoch organization, fox news and rush limbaugh will be the supreme court's authorities.

it is said that one of every three dollars spent on health care is wasted.  whoa, is that all?  being a medicare recipient i know that regular visits as requested by my various physicians are a total waste of my time.  obviously they are income generators for the doctors and pharmaceutical industry.  many of the meds the doctors have prescribed and i've paid for wind up in my garbage bag.

on the other hand, this amount of waste may not be out of hand.  admiral rickover has been alleged to say that 1 of every 3 defense dollars is wasted.  soooo, i guess we can incorporate into our "common knowledge" that 1 of 3 of any effort is wasted.

yesterday, i complained of some of our hard line irish politicians, reminds me of the book i just started, "specimen days", by michael cunningham about the poorest, unluckiest family on the lower east side of new york city.  i can see that its possible that any family who had survived such poverty and bad luck cannot be sympathetic for people today who have that safety net.  in the first third of the 20th century those without connections had great difficulty surviving and they hold a grudge.

i have this belief that the descendants of the joad family of the, "grapes of wrath", are now republicans.

THE GHOST OF CCNY -- NORFOLK STATE

CCNY needs this team  ---

anthony evans, coach of norfolk state, the current cinderella team is new york bred.  the team includes eight nyc guys who in the good old days would have been playing for CITY COLLEGE.  

i watched evans closely during the game when the camera was on him.  i read him as a realistic nyc guy who knows that disaster and defeat can happen to you at any time.  crushing defeat awaits just around the corner.   many of the other coaches fat-cat, and redfaced from rich schools seem more concerned about their next good-old-boy party and their next beer, funnel cakes, beef jerky, ribs and heart attacks.   

sporting news says evans is making under 200k.  i bet its closer to 80k.

today norfolk state team faces the university of florida.  they seem to be more interested in being known as the gators rather than a university.  thats odd .... hmmmm.

the oddsmakers yesterday had norfolk as 14 point underdogs.  expectations as you can see are not too good.  we'll see at 6 pm.  seeya.

NEW YORK CITY GOES TO VIRGINIA

i smell movie.  the story of norfolk state from virginia winning over (white bread school) missouri, 3rd ranked in the country (ap and espn coaches poll) in the first round of the ncaa tourney.

it was norfolk state's first appearance in the tourney whose record last year was 12-20.  this year their record was 25-9, winning 9 of their last 10.  kyle o'quinn. (although black) on the eve of st. patrick's day celebrated his irish name with an outstanding game.  his hometown is NEW YORK CITY as is eight members of the team.  the other standout interesting team personality is head coach anthony evans also from new york city who showed great natural emotional control in this excruciatingly exciting game until the final moments.

yesterday's supermarket trip wound up in a, janet evanovich/stephanie plum mystery brawl.  an elderly guy slammed into my shopping cart.  i whirled around (in my senior citizen way) and reactively slapped his back open handed.  he immediately started yelling for the police that i struck him.  the manager jumped between us trying to negotiate a peace.  somehow it all settled down and we went on our way.  why can't we all get along?  and who cares.   as stephanie plum said "... we're not going quietly into that long night ...."

their only tourney win was in 2003 over kansas and last met kentucky in the finals and losing in 1996.
