DIABLO KILLS ME AGAIN

after a week of hard slogging through the parallel realm of diablo 2 and reaching level 23 they killed me.  it was late in the day and after a particularly difficult assault on the evil ones i was caught over confident and unaware that a large band of their comrades were awaiting me. 

anyway i have other important things to do.  for example; today is senior citizen discount day at harris-teeter.  must get my 5% as i'm saving for my old age.  also must return books to the library.  see!

i'm still on diablo 2 because diablo 3 got such mediocre reviews.

many times taking a creature from its feral environmrnt can prove fatal.  a wild animal constrained to civilization and its boundaries has a difficult time adapting.  in spite of all difficulties my adaptation to civilization appears successful.  14 years out of new jersey and i can almost smile again and relate in an almost civilized manner to my fellow primates.

mmmmmmmmm.......

my sorta' vegetarian regimen seems to be working.  of course the last older person i spoke to whose diet was working turned out to have cancer.  anyhow, a delicious lunch of spinach and broccoli lightly seasoned with condiments which have been laying about in your kitchen for years is a really mmmm, mmmm delight.  for extra protein energy and deliciousness you can throw in some tofu chunks.  doesn't get any better than this.

for the more sophisticated and gourmet types the variation which includes bean sprouts, asparagus, and dandelion leaves culled from your lawn may be desirable.  i know my transylvanian relatives survived a thousand years on a similar delicious diet.

diablo 3 unveiled yesterday.  breathlessly i awaited the reviews on amazon.  sadly my expectations were dashed and crushed.  363 users who anted up the $60 initial cost plus internet costs were disappointed and hurt by the various problems, redtape, and game.  they gave it one star- the worst rating.  only  185 users were satisfied rating it five stars.  my usual approach to buying an item is if the item has an approval rating of 10:1.  this item has a 1:2 ratio.

i'll go back to diablo 2 (or 1)  which were interesting games with very few problems.

on the upside, you can cherry pick opinions from various doctors easily.  on the downside, half of the opinions, prescribed meds, and one-size-fits-all approach can be worthless or worse.

soooo, cherry picking is the key.  going to regular doctor requested visits can be an imposition on your valuable remaining time and your mental attitude unless there really are positive aspects.

busy working my way through, john grisham's works.  he has to be one of the all time best story tellers.  some of his early books may have been stretched a little.  recent stories move along smoothly.  they are all hard to put down.

now in the middle of, "the litigators".  an interesting, amusing, and entertaining story of ambulance chasing attorneys.  reminiscent of some of the egocentric, bottom feeder lawyers i've known (or are they all that way).

it would be nice if individuals could get periodic complete blood testing on their own because most can read the numbers just as well (maybe better and with more interest) than their doctors.  obvious benefits include big savings to taxpayers and patients.

most doctor's medical tests are similar to high school lab experiments. they are just put in files or plotted on graphs with absolutely no payoff except profits and beard stroking for the medical community.

over the next 40 years after my army discharge i occasionally had bad dreams that i was drafted again.  i complained, wrote my congressman, and begrudgingly followed my orders.  lately though when i have had dreams of being drafted they seem so good.  i guess, youthful and vigorous is preferable to impending dotage.

if there is no war, army life is the softest touch possible.  no thought required.  hours are regular.  payday is always on time.  entertainment, sports, food, clothing, shelter, medical, and other stuff come with the job.  so you must deal with idiots but then any activity except being a hermit requires associating with annoying humanoids.

last night i dreamed that i was looking for the lexington ave. line entrance at grand central station.  this is not an unusual dream.  its always night time.  sometimes i'm in washington heights trying to find the Z trolley going across manhattan and on to the bronx.  other times i'm in queens on a bus going across the bridge over the sound into the bronx.  i also have gotten lost in the nyc subway system trying to get to the bronx.  i've been in my car driving north from downtown nyc to the bronx.  i've wandered among apartment buildings in manhattan and then in the west bronx walking towards my section of the bronx.  on the wrong subway train going into queens or on some "el" line parallel to the third ave. "el".

i guess i'd rather be lost in the 1940s bronx than facing my end of days.

being a normal paranoid person i believe that if there is not a conspiracy among members of the medical/pharmaceutical complex to generate profits, there is certainly a huge redundant unnecessary application of medical treatment and ministration.

assuming that my medical providers were doing their best and i'm still walking around mowing my lawn and functioning then it would appear that they reached the bounds of their limited knowledge and the end of their textbook and don't want to work too hard.
