ON BECOMING AVERAGE

working for the defense department for 30+ years i became used to stupidity from the motor pool to the top bosses and the officers. just grin and bear it. now that i'm in my mid-eighties, sorta' sick and am affected by my required meds i feel that my IQ must have decreased to about 99. fiddling with new operating systems, new technical products, etc. is a difficult chore.

when my group got one of the first apple 1 or something computers an employee was afraid to touch it. i assured him that it wouldn't break to no avail. he was afraid of it.

a boss told me not to spill coffee on it. so clever of him. he never did anything useful anyway. he carried a ledger around and appeared to take notes presumably for some important purpose.

in the dilbert comic strip of that time the boss was given an etch-a-sketch and told it was a computer. i believe it could have been a true story.

a division chief told a computer knowledgeable employees to just put a job in the computer. the employee told me he didn't know where the division chief wanted him to stick it. after the chief overheard this employee say that the chief was a horse's ass he had to transfer to another group.

i have many such true stories but my point is or was supposed to be that i am turning into one of these morons.

MARBLE SEASON

TRUTH IN HEALTHCARE REVISITED IV

EVERYTHING YOU WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT NURSES BUT WERE AFRAID TO ASK

some nurses and their helpers were absolutely super going far beyond what you would expect a person to do. occasionally you would find one who did not have a clue as to what they were doing. how these workers even got into the building is a mystery.

one assistant (certainly not of nurse caliber) must have last worked in the brazilian outback or tierra del fuego. she would not take away a bed pan or do rational nurse duties. after giving me some drugs she asked whether i was bradley? no, i'm not bradley. he's next door. she stood serious and quiet for a few seconds then smiled and left. this particular nurse seemed to have her own unique methods probably made up as problems arose. i loudly reprimanded her for various irregular actions and told her she did not know what she was doing.

on another hospitalization a nurse or assistant backed into my foot and then accused me of molesting her. i objected strongly concerning my innocence. women in general seem to think all men are after them. not true. never saw her again.

a young nurse trying to fix the attached urinary collection device caused me to slightly respond to her touch. probably - maybe it was an illusion since i'm old and sick. she seemed to flush and walked away finishing her work later. did she flush? i thought so but it could of been anything or nothing. just my retarded male reptile imagination? actually, i don't think so.

another nurse was extremely helpful giving me some batteries for my radio and a super-duper plastic urinal which was necessary at the time.

nurses seemed to be immune to any disgusting thing that occurred or nakedness of the sick or old or fat. for various reasons every few minutes someone would ask me to expose myself. they squeezed my stomach or just looked and asked me if anything hurt. after about an army of people wandered through and examined me i was on the edge of hurting because of all the squeezing. since no one seemed to care that my clothing was in disarray why should i care? one day a nurse asked me to coverup. what the ------? whoa, i didn't think anyone cared?

one elderly lady orderly seemed to come into my room every half hour or so taking blood samples and checking my glucose level. nothing was ever wrong and the results were always about the same. i suspect she was mentally challenged given her job because the management may have had to create the position.

of course what do i know? these are medical professionals (sorta').

as of yesterday the management and employees cannot assign responsibility for live anthrax samples having been sent to various places.

only a few in defense establishments have ability and try to do the right thing.

as they say, "its like shoveling shit against the tide".

D-DAY

as you know on june 6, 1944 american and allied forces landed on french soil to oust the bastard, ignorant, murdering germans from europe. german tribes haven't learned much since their ancestors invaded civilization in about the 1st to 4th century rome. the USA suffered over 2500 fatalities on d-day.

there is a myth still alive today among the ignorant that the germans were trying to save us from communism when clearly their invasion was a power grab. they indiscriminately bombed london and other cities killing civilians and destroying as much as possible. winston churchill had some ideas for germany after the war. he wanted to turn germany into one big agrarian space. 50-60 million people (over 2%) of the world's population were murdered by them.

who holds a grudge?

during a guided tour of normandy the french guide took the group to both the american and german cemeteries. to him it seemed irrelevant as to who was the occupying force. seeing the german grave sites relieved some of my anger and hostility.

TRUTH IN HEALTHCARE REVISITED III

more hallucinations and dreams in hospital:

in addition to my teleportation dream described here on april 20, 2014 i can recall only two other hallucinatory/dream experiences.

in one the nurse of the day put her hand on my knee and later appeared in just her under garments being very well endowed. this particular dream was so realistic that i didn't realize it was just a dream until much time had passed. only after i separated the parts did i know it was all one dream. one of the clues was that the view from the room in my dream was different from my real room. i was actually wondering in the dream why she didn't know that i was too sick (and married) for any physical activity. i know. its because i'm adorable.

in another dream/hallucination i had accidentally climbed into a dumpster instead of a chair on a moving sidewalk in a movie theater in washington heights in new york city. i was too weak to climb out. the theater was going to open at 9 am. i could actually see the real clock on the wall of my room. the time on the clock and the real time showed it was about seven o'clock. i was cold and i must have rang a (real) buzzer that was available. a person came to the door. it was the real nurse (i think) for my room. she asked what i wanted and i told her that i wanted to get out of the dumpster and stay in the warm lobby until the theater opened. she must have answered something and went away. this ritual went on for awhile. unfortunately i don't recall how this ended or some of the finer details of this dream/hallucination.

i think i was in this illusory theater before in other dreams but that could just be part of this illusion.

the wapo had an article this week about hallucinations people have in hospitals. my illusions are not scary in any way and are usually just interesting.

i have put joe scarborough on suspension from my tv for one day, today, for his knowledge free right wing views yesterday for his comments on minimum hourly wages in particular.

ok, its after 9 am. your sentence has been served.

all the small-small businessmen agree that there should be no minimum wage because it squeezes their profits or non-profits. they clearly should not be thinking that they should be in business. they need psychiatric help with their inflated egos.

TRUTH IN HEALTHCARE REVISITED II

(presently, i go to six doctors ranging from good to excellent. occasionally you experience a bad doctor who can ruin the reputation of all the others)

bizarrely i was subjected to some events which reflect on some of the incompetent or glory and money seeking doctors although i was not subjected to many of them.

over the past 17 months since transplant i have been admitted to hospitals about six times (i've lost count) and a rehab facility twice. its a miracle that i still live in spite of some of the very few but deadly incompetents. one of my regular doctors said that i didn't have these problems prior to the transplant and that he thought peri-dialysis was preferable. of course this is monday morning quarterbacking or better yet fourth quarter quarterbacking and i'm a touchdown behind. this analysis should be done after my fourth quarter is over.

during one of the hospital stays i was given about a 50-50 chance of survival in the ICU. i was a perfect subject for experimentation (for a high school lab) being a breathing cadaver.

i was subjected to the whims of a doctor who was solely promoting himself. he may have had deals with vendors of medical gadgets. the particular vendor this day was testing and selling various designs of oxygen masks. the odd and probably illegal test started late at night. no witnesses present. when i realized that i was the subject of this doctor's capricious and uncaring nature and these devices had no bearing on my improving my health i took off the device and refused to further cooperate. the vendor then told me that i promised (not even remotely true) to do this, and this was a test of several similar products. i told her that i never promised, i don't work for her, i am not a dogooder, and she should get out of here. later she apologized. why? i dunno. "just go away".

other abuses include five foley changes in one day. he made some lame excuses for having to do this. after i informed his boss about malpractice suits and the criminal justice system they backed off a bit. many doctors tend to believe in their greatness much like jihadists and other fanatics. couldn't get rid of the doc entirely as he wanted to give me s cardiac stress test and here i was as weak as a baby. i turned down an MRI after a test after which i saw flashes of light for a couple of days.

a friend of mine asked, "do you know where the phrase, 'get the F--- out of here'." came from'? he said if you are involved with a doctor of this nationality (like mine but not of american origin) you must say the magic words, "get the F--- out of here".

lesson learned: stay out of hospitals.

on the plus side the transplant unit i was in initially was outstandingly well run. i commend all their staff.
